We have a house on Shelter Island, New York (the quiet part of "the Hamptons" is available for exchange year round with the exception of mid-June to end of August. A stucco house with three bedrooms (thanks to bunk beds, it sleeps 8) and a huge open kitchen/living area with indoor/outdoor fireplace and soaring ceilings, it was architecturally designed and completed in 2001. House has a heated pool with marble trim, large terraces, and luxury appointments throughout including subzero refrigerator, DCS gas oven, Bosch dishwasher, Val Cucinne cabinets imported from Italy, excellent espresso machine, marble entrance hall, and wooden floors throughout. Outside the period of time we'd be using it, September and then June are probably the best times to visit, when the weather is warm enough to take advantage of the outdoor living aspect which is such a part of this house. New York home is located on the most picturesque and upscale part of Shelter Island. A beautiful bike ride brings you to the nearest beach, 1 mile away. The ocean beaches and social scenes of East Hampton and Southampton are 15 minutes away.
Family of four. I am American, my husband is German, and our two extremely well behaved children include a girl, aged 8 who speaks fluent French, German and English and a boy, almost 4 who is following in his sister's footsteps.
Feel free to reply in English, German or French. We are very happy to assist you with your travel plans in any of these three languages as well. We are seeking luxury accommodations equal to what we are offering, stylish and clean both inside and out. We do not smoke and would expect any smoking to take place outside the house. Children are welcome and we have excellent and educational toys in both locations as well as bicycles; but we would need to feel confident that your children, like ours, are accustomed to treating other people's belongings with respect and care. Our greatest hope is that we find someone with comparably luxurious accommodations near Val d'Isere, or Rotte Wand or some comparable ski resort who would be interested in trading one week in February there for one week at either of our houses at a mutually convenient time on a yearly basis. If this person or family needed more than just the week, we would consider adding a week between Christmas and New Years to our stay, or finding some other compromise.
PREFERRED DESTINATIONS:
We are seeking luxury accommodations with fine amenities and easy access to upscale ski resort in France, Switzerland, Austria or Germany. Also open to all offers including Paris, Dusseldorf (near my husband's family, for when we're there visiting) Manhattan, Los Angeles, and other cities within French or German speaking countries (we're trying to reinforce our children's foreign language skills).
